Below is a list of all the camera gear I currently own. I’m not a gear freak but if the right piece of equipment presents itself at the right price!
Only about 20% of my kit was actually bought new. Due to the simple fact that I can’t afford it. The rest was aquired from various sources. If I can pick up a used camera or lens for a fraction of the cost of a new one (from a reputable source) that’s the way i’ll go. The money saved will go toward the next trip.
I usually (depending what mood i’m in) pick a camera for the day and throw either a couple of memory cards or a few rolls of film in my bag, then off I go.
The GR1 tends to permanently live in my bag for backup as it’s so small. (but perfectly formed!).
Nikon D4 – (magnesium bodied, Japanese built low light monster) Say what you will. It’s near perfection. Expensive, yes but pretty much near perfection. And currently (2017) a third of it’s original price.
Voigtlander 20mm f3.5 (pretty much permanently lives on the camera) The D.O.F is enormous !!!
Voigtlander 40mm f2 – Great colour rendition and clarity.
Nikon 50mm f1.4 G – An ok lens.
Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 – The staple diet of Nikon lenses. Better than the VR version.
Hasselblad 500cm – (iconic and beautiful to use medium format camera)
80mm planar lens.
Nikon F2 – (built like a tank)
Ricoh GR1 – (in my opinion the best 35mm point and shoot film camera ever made).
Kodak Tri-x 400 – Push push push…!!!
Kodak Portra 400.
Ilford HP5+ 400.
Joby large gorilla pod.
Manfrotto Befree tripod.
Billingham Hadley large camera bag. (six years of serious abuse and still going strong)
Sekonic L-398A light meter – Used for my Hasselblad.
